The title of the video and the visual appearance of Donut's section are a reference to the livestream "lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to", which plays a playlist of lo-fi chill music over a looped animation.
These sounds appeared automatically in the 1950s and ’60s, due to the low quality of recording equipment that was available at the time. But today, this type of sound is intentionally used to create a new genre of music.
The names of the animations has never been given an official name stated Music Lo-Fi either in the Battle for Dream Island series, or by Jacknjellify; the current one is unofficial.
